Fitness, Determination, and Transformation: The Story of Shwetansh Dhar

*Introduction to His Fitness Journey:*

Shwetansh Dhar is a runner, cyclist, and fitness enthusiast from New Delhi. In the running community, people know him as the “Indian Flag Runner.” Professionally, he serves as a board member of the T10 Cricket Association India and the Director of Criezkit Private Limited.

*A Different Beginning:*

Before starting his fitness journey, Shwetansh’s life was vastly different. He used to run a club in Dubai, and as you might imagine, life in a club was filled with late nights, smoking, and daily drinking. This lifestyle left him feeling lethargic, unmotivated, and plagued by low energy levels and poor health. His health began to decline, and he developed blood pressure problems and breathing issues, with his weight climbing above 90 kilograms.

It was then that he realized it was time to change his lifestyle and prioritize his health. So, in 2018-2019, he embarked on his fitness journey.

*The Journey to Fitness:*

The key to any fitness journey is consistency—sticking to a balanced diet and a regular exercise regime. For Shwetansh, that meant incorporating gym workouts, running, cycling, and a proper diet into his daily routine.

He believes diet plays a crucial role in this journey. He has always told others that the foundation of fitness is built on what you eat: it’s 70% diet and 30% fitness.

*Overcoming Challenges:*

Starting a fitness journey is never easy. One may face a lack of motivation, physical discomfort, time management challenges, unpleasant dietary changes, inconsistency, and a lack of knowledge. But with dedication, determination, hard work, and a clear sense of purpose, these obstacles can be overcome. It took him time to make fitness a part of his life, but he never gave up.

When Shwetansh began running, he struggled to complete even a single kilometer without taking 4-5 breaks. But now, after years of consistent effort and practice, running feels effortless. It’s been a continuous journey since then.

*The Rewards of Running:*

Running has brought him immense benefits: better health, recognition, and lifelong friendships. The running community is incredibly supportive, and he is proud to be a part of it. He has met amazing people across India and built strong relationships, camaraderie, and rapport.

So far, he has completed one 100K run in 2020, three 50K runs, 12 full marathons, 70+ half marathons, over 30 10K runs, and one 6-hour stadium run. In cycling, he has completed one 130K ride, five 100K rides, and over 20 rides of 50K each. As an ambassador, he has participated in 15 notable events, and as a pacer, he has completed 16 events. He has also participated internationally in 10K, 21K, and full marathons.

*Reflection on His Journey:*

Reflecting on his transformative journey, Shwetansh feels a deep sense of pride and gratitude for the perseverance that has driven him forward. For him, fitness is more than just an activity; it’s a testament to strength, determination, and the relentless drive to push limits, step by step.
